Summer 2019 - Professional Development Opportunities

OPALS Training – Beginner/Refresher

July 22, 2019 (9:00am – 3:00pm)

August 21, 2019 (9:00am – 3:00pm)

Full day training for everything in OPALS library automation catalog from circulation to adding patrons to basic local cataloging. This is recommended new librarians and clerks, as well as those who have been "self-taught" and need to gain more knowledge. Lunch is included.

OPALS Training – Intermediate/Advanced

July 23, 2019 (8:30 – 11:30am)

August 19, 2019 (12:30 – 3:30pm)

For those already familiar with using OPALS, this half-day workshop is designed to give you more in-depth knowledge such as advanced search features, getting the reports that you need, local cataloging fields to customize collections, adding student pictures, and more. Intended for both school librarians and library staff who use OPALS often.


SORA (Overdrive) Workshop

July 23, 2019 (12:30 – 3:30pm)

August 19, 2019 (8:30 – 11:30am)

Whether you are a beginner, or are finally getting comfortable with the SORA platform, this workshop will show you how you can get your students logged in on various devices, how to curate your own collections, using bookmarks and notetaking features, getting your own statistics, creating carts with your Advantage accounts, and more.

Follett Destiny Workshop

Calling all Follett users…Do you have new staff members starting in your library in the fall? Do you want/need a refresher on Destiny basics? Or, do you want to learn about some of the latest updates and cool features in Destiny? Come to one or both of these sessions and bring your library staff and a couple of books that need to be cataloged.
