Meetings are held every other month for WSWHE BOCES Library Automation members to assist with ongoing learning about new features, troubleshoot challenges, and discuss potential enhancements. Some folks have been asking how they can do renewals, more similarly to how we used to do them in our previous automation system. Karin just figured out a way!
(And if you already do this, then awesome. Karin literally just had an "a ha" moment.)

In LS2 Staff-->Staff Services-->Titles and Items, you can scan the barcode into the search, and the title pops up. On the right, there's a spot to "click to renew". It might occasionally have a popup where you would type in an override, depending upon other things (if you don't know your override, Karin can change the password for you), but it's super quick. Try it! With this method, you can bypass having to go into each borrower's account to renew.

By the way, we can also enable/disable automatic renewals for you. When that setting is turned on for a location, it will automatically renew items a couple of times before marking it as overdue. (Note that any changes made in settings are not retroactive.)

Welcome to a new school year! In an effort to reduce the number of emails we send and to curate information in one place for you to refer back to, we will be using a blog for information such as what you see below.  You can find the blog on our LibGuide under Automation - TLC.  Please subscribe to the blog (we can't do it for you) so that you receive important updates as they happen.

Let Karin know if you are having difficulty accessing TLC modules via SSO (screenshots help a lot). You should be able to fully access your catalogs. Let us know about any changes in library support staff using this Google Form.

You may notice some things that TLC is in the process of waving their magic wands on, this week. (So, no need to rush on checking out books. It's okay to wait a little bit.)

  • old users may still be hanging out in the system

  • students who transitioned from one building to another may be showing up in the "wrong" spots at the moment...

  • classes under responsible parties (homeroom teachers) may not totally look correct yet, as your buildings continue to fine-tune whatever they're putting into eSchool/SchoolTool

Pro tip: printing out student barcodes is easy
If you wish to print student barcodes to keep in a binder, or to place on index cards or shelf markers (the index card method is great for speeding up the checkout process, as well as for a quick attendance/did that student get to checkout/how can I get to know students), you can do that!
